"He possessed the forthright, straight-forward nature of his pioneer father, Perry Bean, and highly spiritual character of his saintly mother; these attributes made Jim Bean one of the most lovable and dependable men throughout the great west, of which he was so much a part. From the time he roped bare-footed in the tall grasses at Skilman's Grove, until he became vice president of the Bloys Camp Meeting Association, his reverence for the sacred traditions of the Old Cowboy Camp Meeting remained one of the most beautiful annals in the entire history of this noted Camp Meeting. As Jim stood sacred guard over these vital things in his own fearless life, we feel sure that his spirit will look down from above and guard always the precepts laid down by the Founders of this great institution."
