Madelia "Dillie" Marie Hart, 79, of Chandler, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Fulda.

Surviving are three children, Audrey Hart, Lonsdale, Barb (Glenn) Persing, Chandler, and Keith Hart, Slayton; one brother, George Opdahl, Avoca; two sisters, Helen Meyer, Rochester, and Elaine Hovland, Worthington; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Totzke Funeral Home, Slayton, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lake Wilson.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lake Wilson, with the Rev. Bruce Berg officiating. Burial will be in Slayton Memorial Gardens.

Dillie was the daughter of Adolph & Haldora Barnes Opdahl. The family moved to Hawarden, IA and in 1943 they moved to Estherville, IA for a short time before moving to Fulda, MN in 1945. Dillie attended Fulda High School graduating in 1951. Following high school Dillie returned to Estherville and worked as a receptionist at Holy Family Hospital. On October 4, 1957 she and Elmer Hart Jr. were married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fulda. Following their marriage they farmed the Hart family farm south of Chandler, MN and raised their three children. Dillie worked hand in hand with Elmer on the farm doing chores. She later went to work an Wonder World in Slayton retiring in 1992. In March 2011 they moved to the Meadows in Worthington. Elmer passed away on June 30, 2011. Dillie remained at the Meadows until August 31, 2011 when she became a resident of the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda. Dillie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Chandler until it closed and she joined Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson. Dillie enjoyed spending time with family, baking, sewing and her cats.
