He passed away Monday, September 5, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Elliott was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and dancing with Barbara. He also enjoyed bullriding in his earlier years. He was a member of the Eagle FOE #3719 in Crystal Beach and a member of the V.F.W. out of Houston. He retired from the Teamster Union. Mr. Elliott served his country with the U.S. Army and also the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his companion, Barbara Sowell of Crystal Beach, brother, Stevie Joe Elliott of Milam, Texas, sisters, Betty Hopson and Diane Willey, both of Toledo Bend and June Haag of Newton, Texas, brother, Paul Elliott of Newton, children and grandchildren, cousin, Melvin "Bubba" Brock and wife Gwen of Lufkin and a number of other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by his brother, Floyd Dean Elliott and sister, Vicky Elliott (FAG memorial #14470755).
Graveside services with military honors for Mr. Elliott will be held at 10am Thursday September 8, 2011 in the Walker Cemetery with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating.
