Lucy Saunders Weekly Burke was born in Shelby County Missouri to Cyrus and Caroline Saunders. She married Warren Weekly in 1868 and they eventually settled in Valley, Nebraska where at least three children were born to them and died at a very young age. In 1890 Lucy married Edward Burke, as both of them had lost their spouses. Their son Edward Frank Burke was born in 1892. Edward Burke Sr. was farmer and stock raiser who was very respected. His children; Mary Elizabeth Burke Rice and Albert Burke were admired by all of their family as well as Edward Frank Burke.
