Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. The Rev. Fr. Philip Halfacre will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be Emmett Cave, Richard Deats, Brian Deats, George Cave and Jack Porter. Honorary pallbearer will be Traci Pouk.
Evelyn was born Sept. 10, 1918, in Ottawa. She was the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Timmons) Hoxie. She married Harold A. Casey on Oct. 23, 1941, at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa. He died Jan. 14, 1984.
She is survived by her twin children, Judy (Emmet) Cave and Gerald Casey, both of Streator; a daughter, Margo (Richard) Deats of Streator; grandchildren, Traci Pouk and Brian Deats, both of Streator, Jenny Foster of Temple, Texas, Julie Gerhardt of Alabama, Beth Sutherland of La Salle and stepgranddaughters, Beth (Cave) Taylor of San Antonio, Texas, and Amy (Cave) Baker of Indianapolis, Ind.; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Robert Hoxie of Ottawa in 1964; and granddaughter, Amy Deats, in 2008.
Evelyn attended St. Patrick Grade School in Ottawa and graduated from St. Xavier Academy in Ottawa in 1937. She worked for Dr. Hessling DDS of Ottawa before marrying her husband. She also worked from 1988 to 1991 in the cafeteria at St. Mary's School.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the altar and rosary society of the church for many years. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, the Streator Country Club and the Streator Elks Lodge 591.
