She was born on September 13, 1917 in Waldo, Arkansas to the late Henry Jefferson Tompkins and Hattie Rhea (Phillips) Tompkins. She was a professional caregiver for many families in Columbia County and a member of the First Baptist Church in Waldo.
She is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Narvelle Warren, Marie Allder, Alice Clark, and Ida Allder; a brother, Henry Tompkins; and a nephew, David Tompkins.
She is survived by her brother, James Arlis Tompkins and his wife Thelma of Waldo, Arkansas and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Shiloh Cemetery with Bro. Jim Cross officiating
