Orangeburg, S.C. – Mrs. Leona Lovern Bannister, 62, widow of James W. Bannister Jr., died Wednesday, May 18, 1988 at a local Hospital.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Orangeburg.

Mrs. Bannister was born in Greenwood, Nov. 6, 1925, a daughter of the late Emory Melvin Lovern and Pamela Broome Lovern. She was a member of Cannon Bridge Road Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, James Bruce Bannister.

Survivors are three sons, James Frankie Bannister, Emory Ricky Bannister and David Wayne Bannister. All of Orangeburg; a daughter, Judy Elizabeth Bannister of Orangeburg; two brothers, Ralph "Pete" Lovern of Orangeburg and James E. Lovern of Cayce; a sister, Florence L. Driggers of Westminister; and eight grandchildren.
