Logansport Pharos Tribune February 25 1938: Noah Fouts, 73, widely known Carroll County farmer residing on State Road 29 South of Deer Creek, died suddenly after suffering a heart at Dallas, Texas, Thursday night while en-route home by automobile from Whittier, Calif. where he been visiting a daughter, Mrs Alta House, according to a message received by relatives. Mr Fouts had gone to California last fall with Mr and Mrs F. A. Roach of Kokomo and was returning to his home with them. He was the oldest son of Soloman and Margaret Fouts, pioneer residents of the Deer Creek community, and was one of the outstanding farmers of this section of the state. He and his brothers, Finis and Taylor, were pioneers in the production of soybeans in Indiana and for many years were widely known as the Hoosier Soybean kings. His home on State Road 29 with a beautiful pond between it and the highway is one of the show places of the community. Mrs Fouts passed away in May 1937. Surviving are a son, Castyle, who resides on the home place; five daughters, Mrs House in California, Mrs Geneva Modisett of near Clymers, Mrs Emily Davis and Mrs Eva Ragan of Indianapolis and Mrs Marguerite McKee of Bunker Hill; two brothers Finis and Taylor; five sisters Mrs Emma Jones of Danville Ill, Mrs Laura Wickard and Mrs George Guard Of Flora, Mrs Alma Getty and Mrs Clara Grace of Fort Wayne; twenty one grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A son Forrest and a daughter Mrs Mildred Clingenpeel preceded him in death. The body will arrive at the Baker Funeral Home in Camden at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, from where it will be taken to the residence.
