Charlotte Lorraine Thayer, 79, of Sioux City died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Morningside Church of Christ with Pastor David B. Haynes officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Thayer was born Sept. 2, 1919 in Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of William Eden and Evelyn (Corona) Cowell. She moved to Sioux City in 1936. She graduated from Central High School in 1936.
She married Frank A. Thayer on July 2, 1936 in Elk Point, S.D. He died Nov. 20, 1982 in Sioux City. She was a housekeeper at Gordon Memorial Hospital. Prior to retirement, she worked at Westwood Convalescent and Rest Home.
She was a member of Morningside Church of Christ, Mended Hearts, Trimble Upper Classmen, American Assocation of Retired Persons and Mature Citizens Card Club.
Survivors include four daughters, Frances Jones of Las Vegas, Nev., Patty and her husband Darwin Sturtevant, Cleo and her husband Carl Peterson and Kay and her husband, Frank Moffatt, all of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Greg, Evelyn, Wayne, Tommy, Jeff, Jennifer, Danny and Laurie; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two infant brothers.
