Earl Edward Ellis, 88, passed from this life on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Garden Terrace, Overland Park, Kansas. He was born October 23, 1922 in Morton County, Kansas, was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy. The majority of his life was spent farming in Stevens County, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Betty Jane (Delay) Ellis in 1998, his parents Dorothy (Stall) Ellis and Lando Ellis of Elkhart, Kansas, and his brother Lauren Ellis of Elkhart, Kansas He is survived by his children: Gwen Ellis Ball (David) of Natchez, Mississippi, Melanie Ellis Cox (Don) of Divide, Colorado, Don Ellis (Deborah) of Olathe, Kansas, Ron Ellis (Karen) of Stanley, Kansas, Bonnie Ellis Hitchcock (Steve) of Shawnee, Kansas, Earlene Ellis Boles (Mike) of Raymore, Missouri, and John Mark Ellis of Overland Park, Kansas, 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was a loyal and devoted grandfather and great grandfather and will be deeply missed. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Garden Terrace for the kindness and care they provided during his stay of four years and four months. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers research or to a charity of your choice .
