ALBERTA MAE DALE

Alberta Mae Dale, 81, Olathe, KS, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at her home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 22, at W.L. Frye & Son Funeral Home, Olathe; burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Olathe Medical Center, 20375 W. 151st St., Suite 206, Olathe, KS 66061.

Mrs. Dale was born August 17, 1917, in Stanley, KS, the daughter of Charles W. and Anna Mae (Moses) Grigsby. Mrs. Dale had lived in Olathe since 1943. She graduated with perfect attendance throughout all of her schooling at Blue Valley and Oxford Schools. She helped manage Dale's Body Shop in Olathe with her husband for over 20 years. She was a member of the Olathe Trail Riders since 1953, and carried the colors (flag) in the Johnson County Fair, Old Settlers and many other parades for 28 years. She was a member of the Olathe Chamber of
Commerce for over 20 years and represented them on the Centennial Santa Fe Trail Ride as a Quantril Raider, parading in all the cities along the original Santa Fe Trail. She also was an original fund contributor to helping start the Olathe Community Hospital and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post # 2993.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Louis H. Grigsby and Walter. L. Grigsby. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence W. Dale, of the home; one son, Charles "Buddy" A. Pettyjohn and his wife, Marilyn, Olathe, KS; one brother, Karl W. Grigsby, Stilwell, KS; one sister, Martha Lucille Grigsby Rowe, Olathe, KS; two grandsons, Kent B. Pettyjohn, and Keith B. Pettyjohn and his wife, Christine, all of Olathe, KS; three granddaughters, Kimberly Pettyjohn, Olathe, KS, Rachelle Grainger, Gardner, KS, and Lori Ewing and her husband, Jeff, Wellsville, KS; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
