Helen A. Darst McComas, 85, of Proctorville, Ohio, passed away Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at her residence.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.

She was born Aug. 2, 1926, in Fort Gay, W.Va., a daughter of the late Blaine Peck and Mabel Compton Peck Smith.

She was a retired employee of Owens Illinois and former president of the women's union. Helen was Baptist by faith. She was a former chairwoman of the gift shop at St. Mary's Medical Center and a volunteer for 20 years. Helen was a former resident of Naples, Fla., where she was president of the neighborhood association.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Clarence E. "Dusty" Darst and Fred McComas; and a brother, Blaine Peck.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Willa Jean Peck of Mansfield, Ohio; niece and her husband, Jeanette and Dennis Walls of Mansfield, Ohio; nephew and his wife, Rodney and Betty Peck of Charlotte, N.C.; and many special cousins, including Larry and Barbara Cumptan of Huntington.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Reger Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
