SUDDEN DEATH.

A Well Known Kansas City Man
Drops Dead.

Many readers of THE JOURNAL will remember Mr. Abram Fisher, who, a few years ago, was engaged in the sawmill business in the West Kansas City bottom, near the site now occupied by the Diamond mills, and they will be pained as well as surprised to hear of his sudden death on Tuesday afternoon.

During the day, he had been looking after the interests of one of his farms near, Quindaro, Wyandotte county, Kansas. He concluded his business there and then secured a boat and crossed the river to look after another farm on the Missouri side. After inspecting it, he returned to the house of Mr. Roberts, one of his tenants, and complained of feeling unwell. He soon after requested Mrs. Roberts to prepare him a cup of tea, which she did at once, and requested him to sit up at the table. Mr. Fisher made a movement as if to comply, and got partly up from his chair, when he fell forward, gasped once or twice, and died almost instantly.

Mr. Fisher was a well-to-do gentleman and commanded general respect. He leaves a large family and many warm friends to mourn his untimely death.

The intelligence of the death of Abe Fisher,
of Pomeroy, has brought sorrow to many.

Tuesday morning he crossed in a skiff near the "big eddy" at Quindaro, to his farm, and on returning he stepped into a shanty close by, stating he felt a pain his chest and asking that some tea be made. While this was being done he suddenly dropped off the chair he was sitting on and expired without a move. Deputy Sheriff Charlie Wells, who is always willing to lend a hand in trouble, was soon on the spot and took charge of the body until the relatives were notified, which was done yesterday.

The funeral will take place this morning at ten o'clock from the State Line depot on the arrival of the train from Pomeroy. The deceased leaves a wife and five children to mourn his sudden death. Few were more respected in Wyandotte county than Abe Fisher. To the needy he always extended a helping hand, and during the grasshopper raid kept many from starving. He was one of our leading farmers, and a very enterprising man. At one time he owned and ran a saw mill near the linseed oil works in Kansas City, Mo., well known as Fisher's mill.
