Rebecca was the daughter of Hiram Bennett. Her mother died when Rebecca was small and she was raised by her stepmother (Lydia Hagen) who Hiram married in Duval County in 1849. Rebecca and Richard lived mostly in Duval and Clay County and then to Baker where Richard was murdered in 1882. Rebecca then went to Columbia County where Margaret Jane Osteen married Andrew Jackson Hurst. Very shortly after that they were back in Duval County.
Richard's parents lived and were buried in St. Johns County FL. Sometime after Hiram Bennett died, Lydia moved from Clay Hill to Green Cove Springs area and that is where she died.
I find Hiram in the Indian Wars down at Ft Heilman.
