Mrs. Ray Bennett, Civic Worker, Dies

Mrs. Ray Richards Bennett of 3922 Windsor Parkway, a long-time Dallas club and civic worker, died here Sunday.

Born in Corsicana, Mrs. Bennett was past president of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League, the woman's board of the Dallas Civic Opera, the Southern Memorial Association, and the Browning Study Club.

In addition, she was the past president of Colonial Dames of America, Kappa Kappa Gamma Mother's Club, and the Daughters of the American Revolution, and formerly served as chairman of the women's division of the Dallas Community Chest.

Reared in Fairfield, Freestone County, Mrs. Bennett attended Mrs. Mason's Finishing School in Tarrytown, N.Y., and graduated from White's Preparatory School in Austin. She made her debut at the Rice Hotel in Houston.

A member of Highland Park Methodist Church, Mrs. Bennett was the daughter of the late W. E. Richards, a well known Texas banker.

Survivors: A daughter, Mrs. Eugene B. Smith Jr. of Dallas, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Highland Park Methodist Church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
