The first memory of Great-grandfather Pike was visiting him at his daughter, Laura Alice Minnis, in Arma. From 1919 when my father died to 1923 when great grandfather died, we visited him there. 1923 was the year that the street cars quit running and my family had no means to visit any of the Pikes after that because we had no transportation. There is nothing like poverty to restrict and change a person's lifestyle when there is no transportation.
