Note: Birth date. The July 12, 1863 date which I previously had here was acquired by my cousin, Roy King in the 1960s during his correspondence with and visits to Inglis relatives in Jackson Co., Ala. In more recent decades, another cousin, Molly Griffin, has acquired a typed copy of a bible record from Inglis descendants in Ala. Roy has passed on himself and it appears that the original unedited Bible record has been destroyed in a fire.Of the two dates the Bible record has the advantage of agreeing with the 1900 U.S. Census date of Feb 1864, so I have changed the date accordingly. Further, to make matters even more confusing, I have found that great grandfathers death certificate has a birth date of Feb. 9, 1864.

Farmer, married 3 times.

1/ Amanda Caroline Matthews
2. Eunice Angleine Matthews
3. Mary Ann Mattews (Hagggard)

Moved to Oklahoma around the turn of the century after the deth of his first wife but returned to Jackson Co Alabama after the death of his second wife. Married again and was living in Stevenson at the time of his death. According to his death certificate he was to be buried in Wimberly Cemetery in Stephenson. However, no memorial stone has been located there, although it has been said that one once existed. Others have said he was buried in a different cemetery but no record or stone has been found elsewhere, so it is assumed that he lies in an unmarked grave in Wimberly Cemetery.
