Robert Lee Davis was the youngest son of Sidney Smith and Louise Ellen Macklin Ellis Davis.

He has a full sister, Josephine Davis.

He married Lela Merle Woods on Feb 6, 1906.

Their marriage certificate listed them as "Lee Davis and Lelar Woods".

The Lelar was because that is the way the Woods family pronounced words that ended in 'a'. This is an Alabama way of pronunciation also.

They had 5 children: Louise Cenia Davis Jones, Sidney William Davis [named for his 2 grandfathers], Barney McCoy Davis [named for the 'Barney McCoy' song], Gerald Raymond Davis, and Evie Lee Davis Barrington.

All the children excepting Louise are or will be buried in Oaklawn Cemetery, Somerville.

Robert worked as a bartender, a butcher, and for the Santa Fe railroad in the roundhouse.
