HELEN BAIRD - Homer - Helen M. Baird, 86, of Homer died at 5:17 p.m. Wednesday, (Aug. 22, 1979) at Burnham City Hospital, Champaign, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kirby Funeral Home in Homer with the Rev. Michael McGaughan officiating. Burial will be in the GAR Cemetery in Homer.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Baird was born Dec. 22, 1892 near Homer (at the Family Farm in Vance Township, Vermilion County, Illinois), a daughter of Elijah and Amy Goodrich Morrison. She married Ralph Baird Sept. 22, 1919 in Homer. He proceeded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Orville (Jeane) Block of Homer; two sons, Donald of Homer and Ronald of Bensenville, 10 Grandchildren: Mrs. Stephen (Pam) James of Homer; Mark Baird of Homer; Mrs. Phil (Janice) Sands of Cissna Park; Anita Baird of Champaign; Rod Baird of St. Joseph; Major Bill Block of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Hugh (Carol) Clark of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Mel (Brenda) Geiselman of St. Elmo; Kevin Baird of Chicago and Kelly Baird, California and 13 Grandchildren.
Mrs. Baird was preceded in death by one son, one granddaughter, one brother and one half-sister.
Mrs. Baird was a member of the Homer Presbyterian Church and the Champaign County Farm Bureau. She was also a former member of the Homer American Legion Auxiliary.
Memorials may be made to the Homer Presbyterian Church or the GAR Cemetery in Homer.
