Mrs. Mertie Vienna McKee, widow of Wm. C. McKee died at her home near Marklesburg at 8 A.M. Monday, November 1, l943, following a lengthy illness caused by a heart condition.
She was the eldest daughter of John Decker and Eliza (Fisher) Decker and was born May 24, l872 near Warfordsburg, Bethel township, Fulton county, Penna. At time of death she was aged 71 years, 5 months and 7 days.
Mrs. McKee's life was lived in Fulton county until 1932, when she with her husband, Wm. C. McKee whom she married December 18, l895, moved to their present farm home near Marklesburg. Her husband preceded her in death in August, 1940.
She was a loving mother, kind neighbor and esteemed by all, living a live of Christian principles. She was a loyal member of the Christian church in Buck Valley, Fulton county. Two children were born to this union, Mrs Chester Layton (Goldie), Amaranth, Pa. and Roy C. of Hesston, RD., who survive, also a sister, Mrs. Lola Mann, Hancock, Md.; two brothers, Howard L. Decker, Bedford and Roy W. Decker, Augusta, Michigan and three grand children.
Short services were held in the home, Thursday morning, November 4 at 9 o'clock, concluded at 11:30 o'clock in the Methodist church, Fulton county, Buck Valley by Rev. T. P. Garland of McConnellsburg. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. ( newspaper clipping)
