He was the husband of the late Beatrice (Carhart) Cooper.
Born Nov. 27, 1923 in Burlington, John was the son of John and Pearl (Dennison) Cooper.
He was a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and served during World War II.
He was a 50-year member of the Riverton Calvary Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the Riverton Fire Department, member of the Riverton Republican Club, 50 plus member of Burlington Masonic Lodge #32 F&AM, and worked 30 years as an engineer for the Amstar Corporation.
John is survived by his son, John H. Cooper Jr. and his wife, Lynne, of Bangor, Maine; two grandchildren, Jason Cooper and his wife, Michele, of Jackson, Mich., Stuart Cooper and his wife, Emily, of Grantham, N.H.; and one great-granddaughter, Beatrix P. Cooper of Jackson, Mich.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vivian James.
Private graveside services will be held at Calvary Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden in Riverton at a later date.
