Paul P Burkert, 65, Indianapolis, died February 16th.
Paul graduated from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Marion Co, Indiana in 1954. In high school he participated in Booster Club, Hi-Y, Library Staff, SPQR, El Revezo Club, 10B Council, Varsity Footbal, Wrestling and Track.
He married Martha Irene McCleery on March 2, 1956 in Indianapolis, Marion Co, Indiana.
A member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 481, he was a union electrician 42 years, retiring in 1997.
He was a Navy Reserve veteran.
Services: 1 pm February 19th in Faith Baptist Church, Avon, of which he was a member.
Calling: 2 to 5 pm February 18th in Conkle Funeral Home, Hendricks County Chapel in Avon, and from noon February 19th in the church.
Burial: Floral Park West Cemetery (name changed to West Ridge Park Cemetery).
He was the widower of Martha I McCleery Burkert. Survivors: children - David, Matthew Burkert, Paula Hillman, Christina Datte, Jennifer Butters; sisters - Phyllis Beck, Virginia McClellan; brothers - Robert, Charles Jr and Steven Burkert; 11 grandchildren.
He died at age 65 years 1 month 27 days of agressive cancer that lasted just a few weeks. His wife, Martha, died of Lou Gehrig's disease on November 17, 2000. Paul cared for her and then was diagnosed with cancer and died three months after Martha.
