On March 23, 1962, Lee joined the United States Marines and served for four years until his honorable discharge July 25, 1966.
Lee worked for Irelands and later Nicholas Trucking, until becoming disabled.
He made his home in Anthony for several years, later moving to Harper to be near family.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters: Brenda Maunz and Gayle Horyna; his brother-in-law: Larry Norris; three nephews: Justin Norris, Dirk Maunz, Robert Horyna; and one niece: Tracy Horyna.
He is survived by his daughter, Peggy Swafford of Wichita; his son, Jeff Swafford of Kingman, KS; two grandchildren: Josh Swafford of Wichita and Samatha Marie Swafford of Cheney, KS; brothers: Leon Swafford and wife, Gail of Harper; Tom Swafford and wife, Tammy of South Hutchinson, Ks; sisters: Karen Williams and husband, Bill of Harper, Patricia Norris, Linda Allton and husband, Phill, all of Wellington; his brother-in-law: Bob and Brenda Horyna of Hutchinson, Ks; other relatives and friends.
Visitation with family will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 in the Prairie Rose Funeral Home at Harper.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Lee Swafford Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
