BRISTOL - Mrs. Emma C. Powell, 69, E. Vistula Street, died apparently of a heart attack at 6:40 p.m. Monday at General Hospital where she was taken in the Bristol ambulance after collapsing in her front yard. She died of a heart attack.
She was born February 7, 1910 in Goshen, Indiana and married Alvin D. Powell May 2, 1928 in Goshen. They lived in Connersville, Indiana for several years after they were married.
He survives with two daughter, Mrs. Grady (Mary J.) Fann and Mrs. James R. (Jerral) Barry, both of Bristol; one brother, Charles Wysong, Middlebury; five sisters, Mrs. Lola Downie and Mrs. Francis Coleman both of Bristol, Mrs. Isabell VanFleen, and Mrs. Richard (Lilly) Wyman of Goshen; and seven grandchildren.
Friends may call from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Bristol Chapel where services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. John Walton of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Bristol, Indiana.
She was retired in 1975 from Penn Controls, Goshen. She was chaplain of the American Legion Auxiliary Post, Goshen, and part time employee of that post. She was a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association, Lodge 9, Goshen.
