Fermin Isaac Baca, age 90, a lifelong resident of Peña Blanca and Albuquerque, passed away on May 29, 2005.
Fermin is survived by his daughter, Dr. María Carlota Baca of Santa Fé, sons, Jim Baca and Tom Baca of Albuquerque, a brother, Deacon Jaime Baca of Rio Rancho and a sister, Pelta Baca Lucero of Albuquerque. Fermin is also survived by his grandchildren, Sara Baca Reeves, Stephanie Baca, Justin Baca and Noelle Baca and his great-grandchildren, Kelly and Kevin Reeves and Emma Schmidt.
Fermin was a registered public accountant for forty years in Albuquerque and worked with many small businesses during his career.
Fermin attended college in Washington, DC where he met his wife, Dixie who passed away in 1993. Fermin was one of a group of young men from Peña Blanca and northern New Mexico who traveled to Washington, DC in the 1930s at the behest of Senator Dennis Cháves to work and further their educations. Former Supreme Court Judge Sam Montoya, Diplomat Ray Sena and former Senator Jospeh Montoya were his roommates while he was in Washington, DC.
Cremation has taken place and private services will be held on July 2, 2005. His ashes will be buried at Peña Blanca Cemetery in Peña Blanca, NM.
