Catherine F. Schaefer, age 79, of Flemington died Saturday, (Oct. 25, 2008) at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville.
Born in Bound Brook, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Barna. On April 3, 1948, Catherine Barna married Christopher Schaefer and in 1949, they purchased a farm in Readington Township. Schaefer Farms has been a family-run business ever since.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station.
Besides her husband, Christopher, Catherine is survived by her two sons, Christopher Schaefer Jr. and his wife, Kristy, of Readington Township and William G. Schaefer, also of Readington Township; her brother, Michael Barna of Florida; and eight grandchildren, Jessica, April, Andrew, Rebecca, Timothy, Katherine, Morgan and Christopher III. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Friends may visit with the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Lupus Foundation of America, 150 Morris Ave., Springfield, NJ 07081, would be appreciated.
