Wiley Galloway

Altamont, IL — Wiley H Galloway, 94, of Altamont died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Altamont Christian Church with Shannon Bopp and Jim Ziegler officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, rural Altamont, with military rites by Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post 7676 of Altamont. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Care Center, Altamont, Altamont Living Museum, Altamont Christian Church or the donor's choice.

Mr. Galloway was born Dec. 2, 1913, in Headyville, the son of William Madison and Mary Elsie (Kepley) Galloway. He married Marion Louise Brooks June 20, 1935, and she preceded him in death Feb. 20, 1993. He then married Imogene Wyatt April 11, 1999.

He was a barber most of his life, beginning his career in Altamont in 1940. Mr. Galloway was a charter member of Altamont Christian Church, Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post 7676 and past member of Altamont Chamber of Commerce. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Imogene Galloway of Altamont; daughters, Shirley (husband, Robert) Harder and Susanne Galloway, both of Altamont; brother, Jesse Curtis (wife, Genie) Galloway of Woodstock; sister, Louise Hansen of Mendota; sisters-in-law, Lois Galloway of Effingham, Violet Galloway of Newton and Doris Galloway of Olney; grandchildren, Rob (wife, Caroline) Harder and Kara (husband, Jeff) Miller, both of Altamont, and Sara (husband, Dustin) Jansen of Effingham; and great-grandsons, Madison Fritscher and Robert Harder III, both of Altamont.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; sons, Donald Eugene Galloway and Monte H Galloway; brothers, Lindsey Galloway, Walter Galloway, Charles Galloway and Dale Galloway; and sisters, Sybil Martens, Emily Sturtevant and Norma Jean Puckett.
