He was born to parents Henry Deppe and Mary Linderg. He came to the USA with his mother and two brothers, arriving in New York, New York April 6, 1888 on the ship Belgenland. They were joining his father in Roscoe, Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was in Roscoe, Pa., in 1900, Staunton, Il. in 1910. On October 19, 1912 he married Martha Westwood in Belleville, St. Clair County, Il.. They had three children, two sons survived and a daughter died at age 8. He was a coal miner.
