LYONS - Jennie P. Hoyt, 84, died April 18, 1991, at Lyons Good Samaritan Center. She was born April 19, 1906, at Lyons, the daughter of Valentine and Ada Gist Enders. A lifetime Lyons resident, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Rice County Historical Society, and Just-A-Mere Club, all at Lyons, Republican Party, Kansas Historical Society, Kansas Departmental Chapter of Eight at Forty, charter member and past president of Unit 129, Kansas American Legion Auxiliary, past chairman of National Junior American Legion Auxiliary, W.A.C. Recruiter, formerly on the staff of Kansas Girls State, former youth director of the Christian Church C.Y.F summer camps, past president of the Kansas Council Women's Clubs, past president of Native Daughters of Kansas, past vice-president of Kansas Day Club, past presidential elector, was a Kentucky Colonel, and served two terms in the Kansas House of Representatives, representing Rice County. On May 29, 1924, she married Hobart L. Hoyt at Lyons. He died Nov. 20,1987. Survivors include: a daughter, Jennieta "Jinx" Wright, Hutchinson; two brothers, Dr. Wray Enders, Lenexa, and John Enders, Los Alamos, N.M.; a sister, Gladys Reed, Hawaii; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church, Lyons, with the Rev. Tom Eastman presiding. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Sillin Funeral Home, Lyons. Burial will be in Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the church, Lyons Good Samaritan Center or to the Coronado-Quivira Museum, all at Lyons.
