Hobart served with the 1st Infantry Division during WWI and was active in the American Legion. He married Jennie Prudence Enders on May 29, 1924 in Lyons, KS. The couple had two children.

LYONS - Hobart L. Hoyt, 91, died Nov. 20, 1987, at Lyons District Hospital. Born June 21, 1896, in Lyons, he married Jennie P. Enders May 29, 1924, in Lyons. He was a retired rural mail carrier and a lifetime Lyons resident. He was a member of Lyons First Christian Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Forty and Eight Society, the Kentucky Colonel and the Rice County Historical Society. He was a World War I Army veteran, a member of the First Division (Big Red One). Survivors: wife, of the home; daughter, Jennieta Wright, Hutchinson; sister, Florence Rees, Topeka; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sillin Funeral Home, Lyons, the Rev. Harold Shore. Burial will be in Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may go to the church or the Rice County Historical Society.
