He served in the Army during World War II and was stationed in Europe. He earned a Purple Heart, EAME Campaign Medal with a Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, two Overseas Service Bars and a European Africa Medal.
He was employed as mechanic with Snodgrass Manor, owned and operated Dave's Garage and retired in 1981 as the owner and operator of Aatco Automatic Transmission and Service.
He was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife; seven daughters, Lois Tri, Cathey Bell and Marjorie Adams, all of Lubbock, Juanita Phillips of Granbury, Inez Mazie of The Woodlands, Elaine Burris of Corpus Christi and Nancy Wren of Woodsboro; two sons, David P. of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Mark of Tacoma, Wash.; 23 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
