Ezekiel was a carpenter who was born in Illinois, his parents were both born in Connecticut. Julina was born in Vermont, as was her mother, and her father was born in New Hampshire. On 5 Apr 1904, Geo. Barter Hayes, 35, and Flora Allen Bell, 34, were married in Davenport. The groom was born in Marsulleo (sic), Illinois, to Ezekiel Timothy Hayes and Julia Barter. He was residing in St. Paul, Minnesota, was a conductor, and this was his second marriage. The bride was born in Graton, New York, was residing in San Jose, California, was the daughter of Geo. W. Allen and Ellen Schenck, and this was her second marriage with her previous husband's last name as Bell. [Return of Marriages in the County of Scott, Iowa, pg. 45, #82-1346]
