John Cornelius was known as "Jack". He was the second of 13 children born to Cornelius Mathias "Neil" Daleiden and Katherine Marie "Katie/Kate" Wertzler in Hampton, Minnesota. Neil married Kate on 29 Jan 1901 in one of the first, if not the first, marriage ceremony conducted in Saint Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton, Dakota County, Minnesota. Jack spent his childhood in Hampton as the son of the town's furniture maker, coffin maker, and mortician. Jack's large family was very active in the St. Mathias Catholic Church. His parents also owned a farm in Randolph County for several years so that Jack and his siblings could attend high school there.

Jack was second married to Bertha Jeanette "Bertha" Martens (1915-2007; FAG# 18563586) on 14 Jan 1943; they had two children.


Jack passed away at the age of 98 in 2002. Bertha joined him in 2007. Jack and Bertha are buried together in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park South in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
