ODEBOLT-Shelby E. Bye, 89, died
Monday, February 4, at Ida Grove.
He was instrumental in organizing a
nutrition program and was a past president
of the Area Agency on Aging.
Before retiring,he worked as a carpenter.
Funeral services were held at 10:30
a.m. Thursday, February 7, at the United
Methodist church in Odebolt with
the Rev. Thomas E. Hotle officiating.
Mrs. Bill Carlson was accompanist and
Mrs. Roland Oxendale sang. Burial, under
the direction of the Farber and Otteman
Funeral Home of Odebolt, was
in the Odebolt cemetery. Serving as
casketbearers were Robert Prichard,
Bill Flink, Tim Kelley, Jeff Scott, John
Scott and David Bye.
Mr. Bye is survived by the following
children: Mrs. Rebecca Mandernach,
Odebolt; Paul Bye, Port St. Lucie,
Fla.; Mrs. Ruth Kelly, Odebolt; Mrs.
Mary Prichard, Des Moines; Bill Bye,
Prescott, Ariz.; Mrs. Carol Wehner,
Ida Grove; Mrs. JoAnn Scott, Odebolt,
and Mrs. Judy Pudenz, Carroll; 34
grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren,
and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, wife, four brothers and two
sisters.
Mr. Bye was born at Milltown, Ind.,
on July 14, 1895, a son of Edwin and
Leora Bye. He was married to Mabel
Lincoln on August 28,1913, at Milltown.
