The Angel of Death claimed Bernice Vera, the small baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wile, Wileville, on Sunday, May 7th, 1939. Born at the D.M. Hospital on March 18th, she was removed to her home a few weeks later, where she was a bright little star for a few days. Then she seemed to be losing her battle with life. She was taken back to the D.M. Hospital, where the best of care and tender love was given her by the nursing staff; but notwithstanding all efforts, she passed away. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. C.H. Whitteker, and the body was laid to rest in Brookside Cemetey.
