Jul (George) Anderson was the third child born to Ole and Marit Anderson. He was born on the family farm in Ellsworth Township. He was christened Jul, but he became known as George. "George" was the name given to him by neighbors, and the name by which he was known the rest of his life. He spent his early years on his father's farm. Sometimes he would find other work in nearby areas. In the middle 1890's, he and a relative, Ed Peterson purchased a grocery store in Ellsworth. Later, George decided he wanted to go into farming, so he sold his interest in the store. He married Anna Rasmussen on November 21 1900. Anna and George lived for about a year with George's parents, Ole and Marit Anderson. They then purchased the adjoining farm where their three children, Orvin, Myrtle, and Stella were born. Anna and George remained on the farm until 1933. At that time they moved with Orvin and his family to St. Paul, Minnesota. George died suddenly November 30, 1936. He would have known of all of his grandchildren, 5 grandsons before he died.
