He ran away from home as a teenager and joined up with a traveling carnival. George was the carnival "tattooed man" and "strong man". He owned a hotel and bar in Philadelphia located near 7th and Race Streets by the Trocadaro Theater. He married Mary Scanlon*, before 1920, and adopted her daughter Mary. They had two children of their own Henrietta and George. All five are buried together but dauther Mary (Obeck) does not have her name on the gravestone.
