THE REV. LAWRENCE GARST DIES AT 85
The Rev. Lawrence A. Garst, former educator and minister of the Church of the Brethren, died Wednesday. He was 85.

The Rev. Garst of Trotwood was at one time principal of Drexel Elementary School. He also was an ordained minister in the Church of the Brethren.

He began his ministry at the Lower Miami Church and stayed active in the ministry until age 80.

His last pastorate was at the Friendship Community Church in Darke County, where he served for 22 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Joan Brenneman of Fort Wayne, Ind.; son, Richard A. Garst of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. Friday, followed by a 1:30 p.m. funeral service at the Lower Miami Church of the Brethren, 5353 Germantown Pike. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lower Miami Church of the Brethen. Rogers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
