Charles R. Blanton, 60, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Ardmore. Services will be held Monday, August 29, 2011 in The Chapel at Griffin-Hillcrest Funeral Home with Reverend Leroy Holman officiating. Services will conclude in The Chapel and interment will be in Provence Cemetery.

Charles was born July 24, 1951 in Ardmore to Fred Junior Blanton and Alleda Evelyn (Moon) Blanton. Charles attended and graduated from Ardmore High School, he then enlisted to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to Ardmore. He worked for Hattensy Plumbing and went to work for his father as a carpenter.

He worked for Frontier Tanks as a welder for 15 years until his retirement. He was an avid OU fan and always supported his team. In his pastime, he enjoyed working with his hands and was often found building something in his workshop.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Charles is survived by his sister, Donnola Snider and husband David, special cousin, Betty Denney and husband Roy, nephew, Shawn Westbrook and wife Candice and niece Julie Hunnicutt and husband Ryan. He is also survived by three great-nephews, Devon Westbrook, Blake Westbrook and Mickey Hunnicutt and one great-niece, Mary Catherine Hunnicutt, all of Ardmore.
