Thomas Cobb Bolton, 60, died peacefully at his residence on Saturday, August 27, 2011.

Tom was born in Albany, Georgia on March 1, 1951. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred W. and Margaret G. Bolton. He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter in law. Mr. Bolton attended Holy Spirit Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry.

Educated in the Terrell County School System, Mr. Bolton graduated from Gordon Military High School in 1969 and attended Gordon Military College. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1974 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.

Mr. Bolton entered the military in 1974 as a 2nd Lieutenant, stationed in Fort Know, Kentucky. A member of the U.S. Army Reserve, he taught Officer's Basics Class during his service.

He began his agricultural finance career with The Federal Land Bank Association of Dawson in May 1977, and continued with Southwest Georgia Farm Credit as a branch manager, and subsequently, regional credit analyst until his retirement in 2006. He was also a credit analyst and Vice-President of Commercial Loans for AB&T National Bank of Albany, and a part-time farmer.

A man of the land, Mr. Bolton tended to his family home place, growing crops and trees, conserving the dirt on which he grew as a child. His life was filled with the simple things - family, good fishing, a day on the water, work on the tractor, or dog time spent with four Bassett Hound rescues. His home reflected the precious memories of family heirlooms and ancestry and is a glimpse of the character of a family man.
