Born Feb. 9, 1937, in Pasadena, where she lived for 47 years prior to moving to Corsica Hills nursing center, Mrs. Birchfield was reared in Brooklyn Park and attended Glen Burnie High School.
She helped run the family business, Johns Roofing Company, Inc. in Brooklyn Park, along with her husband, the late John J. Birchfield, whom she married Jan. 14, 1954. He died in 1996.
Her interests included knitting, ceramics and playing bingo.
Surviving are one son, Michael J. Birchfield of Stevensville; one brother, Edward L. Couch of Brooklyn Park; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Mark W. Birchfield.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Church of God in Lester, W.Va. Interment will follow in Birchfield Cemetery in Lester, W.Va.
