Well Known Citizen and Veteran of War Between the States Died Sunday.

The ranks of the surviving members of Muhlenberg veterans of the War Between the States were reduced Sunday when death claimed "Uncle" Blackie Brown, 92, a Union Soldier in the conflict between the States.

Mr. Brown died at the home of a son, Pete Brown, a resident of the Cherry Hill section of the county. For many years he resided in Central City and was a life-long resident of the county, being born near Cedar Grove.

He was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist church, uniting many years ago, and was at one time Coroner of Muhlenberg county.

Services were held Monday afternoon at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Mr. Kittinger of Bremen and interment was in the church cemetery.

Surviving are five sons and one daughter: Mannie Brown, Bremen; Jim Brown, Earles; Dan Brown of Old Bethel community; Vasco Brown, a resident of Eastern Kentucky, and Pete Brown, R. 3, Central City; and Mrs. Jess Richie.
