He and his family were back in Scotland by 15 January 1850 including his new little brother, Adam, born in Buffalo, New York on 6 Sep 1849 (3). He then immigrated a second time to the United States aboard the ship, George Washington, with his mother, Mary Cook Brown, and 3 brothers: Walter, Adam, and David arriving Boston, Massachussetts on 20 April 1857(4). They proceeded from Iowa City, Iowa with the Israel Evans Handcart Company departing between 22-23 May 1857 and arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah between 11-12 Sep 1857 (5).
