IVAN L. SMITH

Ivan Louis Smith, 81, 210 S. Washington St., died Sunday evening at his home.

He was born July 2, 1901, at Godfrey, the son of John C. and Sophia Josephine Humphreys Smith. He married Alice Faye Embry at Fort Scott in 1922. He was a retired employee of the Fort Scott Hydraulic Cement plant and the Sugar Mill of Fort Scott. He retired in 1964 because of his health.

Survivors include his wife of the home; five sons, Don of Wichita, Neal of Fort Scott, Harold of Chicago, Ill., Bill of Fort Worth, Tex., and Gary of Austin, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Rosalie Cox of Fort Scott, Mrs. Joyce Johnson of Kansas City, Mo., and Janice Pent of Fulton; 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Cheney's Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harold Abraham officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.


Pallbearers for the funeral of Ivan L. Smith were Bill Cox, Raymond Smith, Albert Cox Jr., and Dale, Robert, Elmer, Howard and Gerald Smith.

Doris Jones was organist and the Rev. Harold Abraham, vocalist.
