Billy Ray Blackmon, passed away suddenly on August 26, 2011. He was born March 24, 1944, in Orange, TX, to Ellie and Samson Blackmon. At the age of 5 his family moved to Kemah, TX, where he attended La Vice Stewart Elementary School, Webster Intermediate School and Clear Creek High School.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife of thirty years, Sandy Stewart Blackmon; parents, Sam and Ellie Blackmon; daughter, Leslie Collins; brother, Bo and sister, Doris. He is survived by his wife, Martha Blackmon; daughters, Joy Blackmon, Kelly Blackmon Cooper and her husband Warren; step-son, Michael Dean Smith and wife Amy Ann; step-daughter, Amy Elizabeth Smith, grandchildren, Courtney Collins, Ryan Cooper, Matthew Cooper, Conner Cooper, Katlyn Rivera, Marlena Smith and Henry Smith, plus a host of other loving family and friends.
Billy was loved by a great many friends and family. He will be remembered for his love of family and friends, his sense of humor and his love of travel. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Sunday, August 28, 2011 in the Crowder Funeral Home Chapel - League City. Funeral service will be held in his honor 10:00 am on Monday, August 29, 2011 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Brookhouser, Warren Cooper, David Meschi, Ryan Cooper, Matthew Cooper, and Donny Robinson.
