He was born July 28, 1890 in Franklin Co, IN and named Roy Elijah Lines by his parents James Emerson Lines (1828-1926) and Nora Rariden Lines (1870-1922). He first married Anna Elizabeth French (1887-1935) on Aug 10, 1910 in Franklin Co, IN and they had three children: Earl Eugene (1910-1910), Harry Elijah (1911-1978) and Elnora M (1918-1996). In the early 1920s he abandoned his family and went west, changing his name to Henry Leroy Lyons and claiming to be born in 1896 or 1898.

Great Northern Worker Dies
Harry W. Lyons, of Windham, Mont., passed away at Big Sandy last Tuesday, May 1st, after an illness of a week. Death was due to a perforated ulcer.
Lyons was born July 28, 1898, and was united in this city to Ellen Jensen on Nov. 13, 1945. He had been employed by the Great Northern railway as a cook for the past 17 years and had been employed at Windham for several years.
He is survived by his wife and four children by a previous marriage, Dale, Jimmy, Patricia and Karen, all residing at Fargo, N. D.
Funeral services were held from the Benton Funeral Home at 2 o'clock on Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Lloyd Hanley, pastor of the First Christian Church, and burial was made in Riverside Cemetery.
