ARCADIA MAN DIED SUNDAY AT HIS HOME.

Uncle Penn Harrison Born and Reared in This Parish.

Charles Pendleton (Uncle Penn) Harrison, a native of Bienville parish and a resident of this imeediate section for more than 72 years, died at his home in Arcadia on Sunday evening at 8:30, following an illness of many weeks, and was buried on Tuesday morning in the Liberty Hill cemetery.

Mr. Harrison was born a few miles from Arcadia on January 23, 1863, and lived his entire life in the vicinity of Arcadia. At death he was 72 years, seven months and two days of age. During his life, he did considerable farming, but for the past 16 years has been vice-president of the Harrison Company of Shreveport, tobacco and cigar wholesalers, and he traveled this territory for them. He had been ill for a number of weeks, during which time he was able to be out only once.

The deceased was the son of Charles W. Harrison, a school teacher, and was the father of ten children, nine of whom survived him, four daughters, Mrs. Sessions Fore and Miss Beatrice Harrison of Arcadia, Mrs. J. M. Tompkins and Mrs. J. L. Campbell of Shreveport; and five sons, W. C. Harrison of Bienville, O. D. and Luther Harrison of Shreveport, Claude Harrison of Monroe and Charles Harrison of Arcadia, all of whom survive him. The widow, formerly, Miss Dulcena Shively, daughter of a pioneer Bienville parish physician, also survives him.

Other near relatives surviving are two sisters, Mrs. R. Blackwood of Mart, Texas and Mrs. P. B. Brooks of Miami, Florida; and one brother, J. R. Harrison of Gibsland.

Deceased was a member of the First Methodist Church of Arcadia and also a member of the Masonic order, having been affiliated with both for many years. He was a civic minded citizen, with the interests of Bienville parish at heart, and perhaps had as many friends in this territory as any Arcadia man.

Funeral services for Mr. Harrison were held at the First Methodist church in Arcadia on Tuesday morning, at 9 o'clock, with the Rev. G. A. Morgan of Jonesboro, his former pastor, officiating.

Another article in the same issue of the newspaper reported that Mr. Harrison died of a heart attack.
