Joseph Merida Camp
Joseph Merida Camp was born in Georgia, Feb. 18, 1853. He came to Texas in 1894 and settled at Blum. He married Malissa Jane Robertson, Sept. 1874 and she died in 1933. He spent the last years of his life with his daughter, Mrs. J. H. Smith until his death, Feb. 15, 1942.
He leaves eight children, A. M. of Mayselville, Okla.; J. H. and W. L .of Whitney, Miss Etta and B. F. of Blum, J. J. of Texas City, G. D. of Austin, and Mrs. J. E. Smith who so tenderly cared for him in his illness.
He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. P. M. Arnold of Whitney, and Mrs. Lizzie Conger of Hillsboro.
Mr. Camp joined the Primitive Baptist church at Shiloh in 1901. The funeral services were conducted from the Baptist Church in Blum. Rev. W. T. Jones officiating as minister.
