John M. Barlage of Effingham, Illinois, passed away at St Anthony Hospital at Effingham, Illinois, early Wednesday morning, January 7, 1942, after having been in poor health for some time.

Mr. Barlage, who was born south of Teutopolis, Illinois, 72 years ago, had conducted a Grocery Store in Effingham, Illinois, for twenty-seven years and had just recently retired from active business and sold his store stock, and also the building located on East Jefferson St at Effingham, Illinois.

Mrs. Barlage, nee Josephine Borries, preceded him in death fifteen years ago.

The deceased is survived by two children: Mrs. Ira (Florence) Badger of Ashland, Ohio; and Norbert Barlage of Marshall, Illinios; Two grandchildren also survive, as do also a host of other relatives and friends, among them being two brothers: Bert and George Barlage of Effingham, Illinois; and one sister, namely: Mrs. Henry Wisman of Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock from St Anthony Church at Effingham, Illinois, with interment to take place in St Anthony's parish Cemetery in that city.

This paper extends its sympathy to the family members of Mr. Barlage.
