Amund Amundson and Peter Jorgenson worked on sailing ships between Norway and the United states. They left the ship in Pensacola, Florida in April 1914, wore as many clothes as they could put on, called Amund's sister, Johanna who sent them money for train tickets. They walked to the train depot and caught the train for Minneapolis. The family moved to Jessie Lake in 1928. Amund worked as a bricklayer/mason and also in logging camps. Judith worked in logging camps, as a camp cook.
